1887- Entered Scotia Seminary

1894- Graduates from Scotia Seminary

1895- Began teaching at Miss Wilson's School

1898- Married Albertus Bethune

1899- First child born

1904- Opende Daytona Educational and Industrial School for Negro Girls

1906- Her father died

1909- National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

1912- First student completed eighth grade at her school

1919- Race riots break out in Chicago

1925- Bethune College and Cookman College merge to form Bethune-Cookman College

1935- Chosen as Roosevelt's special advisor on minority affairs

1936- Was appointed as administrator of the Office of Minority Affairs

1945- Franklin Delano Roosevelt dies

1955- Mary dies at the age of 80 in Daytona Beach, Florida
